Introduction to who we are

West Eyreton Plant Nursery is owned Joanne Rietveld.  Joanne grew up in the McKenzie country and Central Otago before shifting to North Canterbury 25 years ago. 

 

With a passion for landscaping with Native plants, Jo set out to build and establish a nursery on her and her partners, 10 acre lifestyle block - away from an office and city commuting! 

 

Having owned life style blocks for 20 years, re establishing gardens with mainly natives became one of her passions.  Heading into the Canterbury back country to gather propagation material was and still is one of the highlights to starting new plants.

Joanne also has a love quarter horses and western riding having competed at a national level.  10 years ago Joanne started a Western saddlery business (JR Saddlery NZ) importing western saddles, which she still operates from home in-between the busy times of the plant nursery.
